Blog #1: About Me and New Media, New Form
I am Violet (she/her), a first-year student in the M.A. in Art and Art Education program. I grew up in Shenzhen, China, and have been pursuing my education in the US since high school. I graduated from the University of Washington this spring with a BA in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts and a minor in Education, Learning, and Society, and I decided to continue my study here at TC, connecting two of my fields of interest!
My passion for art started at a young age and I've always known that I want to study and work in art-related fields. While developing my own art practices during college learning, some internship opportunities I secured in private art academies and graphic design studios solidified my interest in art education. My own artistic development journey greatly shaped who I am today, and by understanding the positive influence and benefit of creative learning, I wish to spread the power of art through educational approaches.
I was able to get familiar with some basic creative technology skills at a FabLab back in high school, and I got the opportunity to revisit most of them in the digital foundation class. However, I am still a beginner at using new media as a creative tool. I am looking forward to learning more in this class!
